Caliper — frequently asked questions

Straight answers about what Caliper does, what it costs, how it keeps your financial data private, and how it compares to the trackers you may have used before.

What is Caliper?

Caliper is the AI net worth tracker — calm and privacy-first: it links your banks, brokerages, loans and crypto, values your home and vehicles automatically, and lets an AI analyst answer questions about your own numbers — with budgeting, a retirement planner and portfolio charts built in. It answers one question well: what are you actually worth, and which way is it moving?

Is Caliper the same app as MyNetWorth?

Yes. Caliper was formerly called MyNetWorth — same app, same account and same data, now at calipermoney.com. If you signed up as a MyNetWorth user, just sign in as before.

Is Caliper free?

Yes — the free tier tracks your full net worth with 90 days of history. A Pro subscription ($4.99/month) adds the AI analyst, voice chat, unlimited linked accounts and full history.

How does it connect to my accounts?

Through Plaid, the same secure connection thousands of finance apps use. Caliper never sees your bank username or password, and the connection is read-only — it can see balances and holdings but can never move money.

Is my financial data safe? Do you sell it?

Your data is encrypted at rest and in transit, is never sold, and is never used to train AI models. Caliper is a software tool, not an advertising business.

Does it track my home's value?

Yes — property values refresh automatically from market data (via RentCast), so your home stays current without manual edits. Vehicles get live market valuations too.

Can it track crypto and other assets?

Yes — crypto wallets across Solana, Sui, EVM chains and Bitcoin, plus bullion, collectibles and anything else you want to log manually, all roll into one net-worth figure.

What is the AI analyst?

A conversational assistant grounded in your own numbers. Ask how your allocation looks, what changed this month, or whether you're on track — by text or voice. It's educational, not financial advice.

Can Caliper help me plan for retirement?

Yes. A retirement calculator is built in — it projects your savings to the day you retire across weak, typical and strong markets. See the worked answers to common questions like "how much do I need to retire at 55?" at /retire/answers.

Is Caliper a good Mint alternative?

Yes — it's one of the closest replacements for Mint, which Intuit shut down in 2024. It aggregates all your accounts like Mint did, adds automatic home and vehicle values and an AI analyst, and is privacy-first with no ads. See /compare/mint-alternative.

Does Caliper give financial advice?

No. It's a tracking and planning tool, and the AI analyst provides general educational information only. It is not a registered investment adviser and creates no fiduciary duty — verify decisions with a licensed professional.
